British Transport Police alerted

South Devon train services faced major disruption after the tragic death of a man on the train tracks.

Emergency services were called to an incident near Cullompton at around 6.30pm last night (January 3).

The line between Exeter St Davids and Taunton was blocked affecting services. British Transport Police confirmed that a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman said: "Officers were called to the line following reports of a casualty. Paramedics also attended. Sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
