A special poem for Christmas

Christmas Angel

Christmas Angel

Family life with Vicky Ewan

She’d always thought she understood
The pattern of her life;
She’d thought she knew who she would be:
A daughter; soon, a wife.
She’d thought her youth would last for years -
The luxury of time
Was hers to bend and mould and shake:
A mountain hers to climb.
She’d thought her days would open out
Upon a narrow plain,
A simple patchwork rich with dreams,
Much sun and little rain.
She’d thought the love she knew till then
Was all the love she'd need;
Thought all that she already had
Was all that was decreed.
She’d thought her life would be her own,
Its passing hers to frame;
She’d thought she saw what was to be
- but then the angel came.
