Festive event at Buckfast Abbey
Civic leaders, supporters and the public attended a special service at Buckfast Abbey.
Torbay mayor Mark Spacagna was among the VIP guests at the 'A Celebration of Christmas' event organised by the Friends of Rowcroft Hospice.
He said: “It was a beautiful service which was led by Fr Andrew. The music at the service was led by one of the best choirs I’ve had the privilege to listen to - Dartington Community Choir.”
The address was read by Rowcroft CEO Mark Hawkins. There were also readings from Jon Hill, Rowcroft director of finance and commercial, Sally Scott-Bryant, Rowcroft chair of trustees and a poem from Claire Redhead, Hospice at Home Sister with Intercessions by Ian Hale, a Rowcroft trustee.
Also invited were Dartmouth mayor and town councillor David Wells Mayor, Totnes mayor Emily Price Mayor, Newton Abbot mayor David Corney-Walker Mayor and Bovey Tracey deputy mayor Martyn Evans.
Cllr Spacagna said: "In its beautiful surroundings, Buckfast Abbey was a perfect venue for such a moving and emotional service."
