Police are investigating an incident close to a Torbay secondary school.
An area at the bottom of Westhill in Torquay was cordoned off by officers.
A sheet was erected on the fence of St Cuthbert Mayne School. Police and forensic could been seen on the school field side of the fence examining the area.
There was speculation on social media that a body may have been found, but it must be emphasised that this has not so far been confirmed by police.
Police have stressed there is no danger to the public. A spokesman said: "Police are currently dealing with an incident, there is no reason for people to be alarmed. There are a number of officers there and a cordon in place, and a privacy screen.”
A Devon and Somerset Fire Service spokesperson confirmed there was not a fire but said one fire crew was at the scene. The spokesperson said: “We have attended to assist the police.”
