Brixham v Buckland on Boxing Day
Brixham AFC are relishing a mouth-watering Toolstation Western League derby encounter against local rivals Buckland Athletic on Boxing Day after earning a valuable point from a 1-1 draw at Barnstaple Town.
Aaron Wellington’s goal just before half-time was enough for the Fishermen to pick themselves up from a rare home defeat at the hands of high-flying Clevedon Town (1-2) seven days before.
They’re sixth in the table, while Buckland moved up to fourth with a 3-1 win over Oldland Abbotonians at Homers Heath.
Brixham’s festive schedule sees them take on Buckland on December 26 followed by a trip to Cornwall to face St Blazey four days later.
Torquay United Under-18s fought out a 2-2 draw with South West Counties Youth League title rivals Bridgwater United at South Devon College.
The result leaves the young Gulls still six points behind leaders Bridgwater but with three games in hand.
They resume action after Christmas, at home to Mangotsfield United on January 6.
United Ladies did not have a match at the weekend, and they also have until January 7 before travelling to Moneyfields (Portsmouth) in the National League Division One SW.
