Community support vital for air show plans

English Riviera Airshow

The English Riviera Airshow

Planning is under way for the two-day flying spectacular to return to the Bay on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2.
Community members, organisations and businesses have started to plan how everyone in the local community can be involved in the English Riviera's biggest event - but the council says it can't do it alone.
The English Riviera BID Company, and Bigwave Marketing, have already pledged their support in delivering the English Riviera Airshow in a new way.
It means support from the community is vital for the event to go ahead. A key element of the 2024 event will be using as many local suppliers, traders, volunteers, and businesses as possible.
The team behind planning the event is keen to hear from people in the community who have experience and skills in event management, event trader and caterer liaison, programme selling, event disability area management, volunteer co-ordination and management, managing donation buckets, bar staff and staff management. Perhaps there's someone in the community who is a registered flying display director who would be interested in supporting the event. Maybe you are a business who might not be able to provide financial support in the form of sponsorship but could provide essential event infrastructure such as security, fencing or other site amenities or contributions. Local event organisers with experience of hosting live music events are also encouraged to come forward.
Bronze, silver, and gold sponsorship packages are available, with packages starting from £950.00.
All sponsors will get tailored pre-event, event and post event exposure for their business, say the organisers.
In addition, for either sponsorship or event support, all supporters of the event will have their business promoted to over 65,000 people, not only over the two-day event but also to a social media audience of over 88,000 followers, as well as recognition in regional and national press.
A community donation page has been set up for businesses and anyone who enjoys watching the English Riviera Airshow.
A donation of £10 can make all the difference, with all donations going towards the overall cost of putting on the event. Donations can be made via: https:// englishrivieraairshow.co.uk/get- involved/support/
The applications for the display teams the council wants to bring to the English Riviera Airshow have been submitted. They will know the outcome in the spring. If successful with its request for some of the RAF's most loved and noisy display teams, the flight display cost will be in the region of £120,000. The more financial support that can be generated, the more display teams can perform.
If the cost of the event isn’t covered through sponsorship and donations it could mean no English Riviera Airshow in 2024. This would have a big impact on local businesses, especially those in hospitality and tourism.
