Hannah Perry
The Making of an Entrepreneur
A Paignton woman who moved to America as a children’s nanny and went on to build an award-winning business is the subject of a TV documentary streaming on several platforms in the USA including Apple TV and Amazon Fire.
In ‘The Making of an Entrepreneur’ Hannah Perry, founder and CEO of The Giggling Pig Art and party Studios, tells her remarkable story in six episodes alongside a cast of similarly successful business people.
“This is a must-watch for those who want to learn the backstory, the failures, the lessons of individuals who have achieved tremendous success despite the ultimate setbacks, obstacles and barriers,” says Hannah.
“Basically the documentary teaches the fundamental principles of life and business success from individuals who have been there and done it.
“I loved working with Che Brown on the series. It was such a positive experience for me and I am grateful to have been chosen for it.”
Hannah, who was born in Paignton Hospital, gained a degree in childhood education and development and took a nannying job for a merchant banker in Westport, Connecticut.
She later worked as PA for Hollywood actor Stanley Tucci at his east coast home during the filming of The Devil Wears Prada and branched out as The Giggling Pig in her own business in a one-room studio in Shelton, Connecticut, in 2011.
“The Giggling Pig is a wonderful business that caters for all ages,” says Hannah.
“We offer children’s art classes, camps, parties and even parent and child events.
“The adults love it as much as the children! We see a lot of paint and sip parties this time of year as well as corporate events and team building. Everything we do is art based and educational.”
The Giggling Pig franchised in 2021 and is now in five locations across Connecticut with a sixth underway and scheduled to open in Spring next year.
Hannah is a three-time winner at the prestigious Stevie Business Awards in New York.
In 2017 she was the Gold Winner for Female Entrepreneur of the Year having taken home two silver awards the previous year — for Female Entrepreneur of the Year and Maverick of the Year. Hannah was also recognised by The Fairfield County Business Journal as one of the 40 Under Forty 2018 Winners, who were rising stars in Fairfield County.
She has published three children’s books featuring her Giggling Pig character and his pals all of which have a theme of love and friendship. She has also built a profitable sideline with merchandise which she designed herself and her Giggling Pig art boxes have shipped worldwide.
Hannah now plans to take The Giggling Pig franchise to an international market and is currently seeking franchisees in the UK among other countries.
