Brixham AFC’s remarkable run of seven successive victories is finally over after Torpoint beat the Fishermen 3-2 in the Toolstation Western League at Wall Park.

Cole Harford scored in the first half and Aaron Wellington in the second, but it wasn’t quite enough as mid-table Torpoint edged a thrilling game after Wall Park had passed a morning pitch inspection.

The Fishermen are still fourth in the table, but they now turn their attention to two big cup games.

Having reached the quarter-finals last season, they travel to Cowes Sports in the FA Vase this Saturday.

Then it’s local rivals Buckland Athletic at home in the Les Phillips Cup next Tuesday night.

Torquay United’s Women’s and Under-18 teams did not play at the weekend.

The young Gulls’ trip to Swindon Supermarine in the SW Counties Youth League Cup fell victim to the weather – they resume in the league at home to Bath City at South Devon College this Saturday (10.30am).

The Women will be back in action on Sunday week (Nov 19) at Feniton in the Devon County Cup.
