New kit for Galmpton United

Young footballers at Galmpton United U14s are starting the new season in style after receiving a helping hand from Wales & West Utilities.
The gas emergency and pipeline service has sponsored the side by way of supporting the volunteer efforts of its colleagues, Sean Hopkins and Michelle Symons, who give up their time to support the club on a regular basis.
Sean, a first line manager covering the Torquay area, has worked at the company for over 15 years. He said: “My son has played for the side since he was 8 years-old and they’re a talented team however, to continue, we rely on people volunteering their time.
“I have been involved with the club for a few years now and know how much we rely on volunteers giving up their time to coach, set fixtures, referee matches and lay out pitches, run the line, let alone raising sponsorship money to purchase kit and equipment.
“This money from my employer has been fantastic and we’ve been able to kit out the side for the season ahead. What’s more is that we’ll be wearing the Wales & West Utilities logo with pride!”
Michelle, who’s worked for Wales & West Utilities for over 17 years, helps out with team admin and in the clubhouse. She is grateful for the support and added: “Having this extra financial support makes such a difference to our players and their families. The money has gone to buy kit and equipment and, on behalf of everyone here, I’d like to say a huge thank you.”
Wales & West Utilities provided the funding as part of its commitment to support the communities it serves. Bethan Jones, Head of Human Resources at Wales & West Utilities, said: “It’s great to see teams such as Galmpton United thrive, and we’re delighted to throw our weight behind the side.
“Youth sport is mostly reliant on people giving up their time for the benefit of others and we’re thrilled to help Sean and Michelle in this capacity.
“We wish the under 14’s the very best for the season.”
