Brixham Chamber of Commerce 100 years old - and it is giving away £15,000 to celebrate
The chamber wants to mark its centenary year in style by giving away £15,000 in grants to worthy projects in the port.
For a century they have provided local businesses and organisations with practical support, useful connections and representation in local, regional, and national government.
A panel of five independent judges are diligently reviewing applications and carrying out the judging process to select winners for the awards.
So far £9,100 has been given away to projects in Brixham, with £5,900 remaining for the final finding round. Applications for the final round need to be in by October 24 - the website to apply and find further information is: https://www.brixhamchamber.co.uk/centenary-awards/
The winners so far have received:
*Youth Enquiry Service Brixham - £1,765. Renovation of their building on Bolton Street
*Friends of Shoalstone Pool - £1,765. Maintenance of the Victorian shelters
*Brixham Heritage Museum - £1,470. School holiday activities for children
*Brixham Theatre - £2,000. Equipment for National Theatre performances
*Play Torbay - £2,100. Forest school sessions for local home schooled children
The awards will culminate in a Gala Ball on the evening of November 17 at the Berry Head Hotel in Brixham. Tickets can be purchased for £36 and includes a delicious three-course meal, live entertainment from Chris Thomas and band; and a chance to celebrate the Centenary Awards winners.
