Night lights on Torbay Lifeboat
Torbay's lifeboat services attended three incidents in as many days
The alerts involved both the Severn Class All-weather Lifeboat and D-Class In-shore Lifeboat.
On Saturday evening a volunteer crew launched at 7.35pm to help a 14 metre sailing yacht with two people aboard which was caught fast to the weather buoy between Torquay and Brixham.
The crew deployed its on-board Y-boat to help free the yacht, which required cutting the buoy. They subsequently brought the damaged buoy aboard and took yacht under tow, returning all safely back to Torquay harbour. The lifeboat was back on station at 11.20pm.
On Monday night both the Severn Class and D-Class lifeboats were launched at 9pm to assist the police as they managed a situation with a man positioned precariously on the wrong side of railings on Princess Pier.
Both lifeboats stood back and ready as a safety precaution whilst the police successfully and safely resolved the incident at 2.30am. Both ALB and ILB returned back at station and were made ready for service by 3.20am.
A few hours later at 7.37am on Tuesday morning, the station was asked to assist a woman reported in the water but were stood down before before its D-Class lifeboat arrived as she made her way safely back ashore.
