Police have sent out an appeal

A man has died after an accident and car fire in Paignton.

Police were called at 1.36am on Sunday October 8 following reports of a two-vehicle road traffic crash on Dartmouth Road.

The collision involved a parked and unattended VW Van and a Hyundai i20. As a result of the collision and a subsequent car fire, the driver of the Hyundai, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Police have thanked the public for their patience while they investigated the scene and closed the road for a number of hours. 

They are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision or may have dash cam footage to make contact on 101 or via their website and quoting Log 0078 of 8th October 2023.
