Brixham AFC continued their surge up the Toolstation Western League table
Brixham AFC continued their surge up the Toolstation Western League table with a third successive win, this time 4-0 over Shepton Mallet at Wall Park.
The Fishermen, who have scored 11 goals with none conceded in that run, saw off Shepton with goals by Charlie Johansen, former Torquay United starlet Ben Aldous, Reece Somers and Cole Harford.
And they even coped with the loss of Jamie Thomson Down, who was sent off in the 41st minute.
They’re now two points behind leaders Falmouth Town, although the Cornishmen do have two games in hand. But another home match this Saturday against Millbrook is a good chance to keep that run going.
*Torquay United’s Under-18 side has a busy few days ahead. After a fourth win from four games, 6-0 over Fairford Town Academy in the SW Counties Youth League, Kevin Wills’ team faces two games in three days this week.
Tomorrow night (Thurs) United meet Falmouth Town in the FA Youth Cup 2nd Qualifying Round at
Buckland Athletic’s Homers Heath ground (7pm). And on Saturday morning (10.30am) they host Bath City in the SW Counties League Cup at South Devon College.
* A spate of injuries prompted Torquay United Ladies to pull out of their National League Division One Plate tie at Exeter City Ladies last weekend. They hope a break will have given at least a few of their casualties a chance to recover, and they need to by this Sunday.
United are one from bottom and they are due to face Selsey Ladies, who have conceded 49 goals in five defeats – it looks like an early ‘must win’ for the Gulls.
