Martin Saunders
Open water swimming success
Torbay swimmer Martin Saunders is a British Champion after a superb performance in the GB Masters Open Water Championships in Pembrokeshire.
Representing Brixham Swimming Club, Martin took on the swimming course of 3km and was placed first in his age group, and only just missed out on the top prize overall.
Covering the course in 39 minutes, he was only 10 seconds adrift from taking 1st place overall throughout all age groups.
He said: “I was very pleased to convincingly win my age group and to once again be crowned British Masters 3k open water champion for the third year in succession.
“This year having been a lot more structured and focused towards my training with every session having a purpose and it has paid dividends with my results this season. I am now looking forward to taking the foot off the gas and taking some time out.”
