The Scribes
Festival hip hop legends The Scribes are coming to The Apple & Parrot
And a group of inspiring young people from Torbay will be supporting them.
The Scribes are a multi award winning hip hop act whose unique blend of beatboxing, off the cuff freestyling, spoken word, crowd participation and genre-spanning music has created a critically acclaimed live show.
They are appearing at The Apple & Parrot in Torquay on Friday September 29.
The performance will be the group's first show in Torquay since completing an incredible run of festivals throughout the summer including Glastonbury, Isle Of Wight, Wireless, WOMAD, Latitude and many more, and is the beginning of the group's autumn tour which will also include stops at Falmouth, Bath, Bristol, Dorchester, Milton Keynes, Plymouth, Exeter, Bude, Bridport, Worthing, Bournemouth and Taunton.
Support on the night is coming from a selection of young acts from Ocean Side Records, a youth-led record label developed in conjunction with Sound Communities, a community initiative designed to inspire some of the most marginalised young people in the Torbay area and give them a platform for their creativity.
The event is another example of the venue giving residents a chance to see nationally touring acts in their area, as well as providing opportunities to the town's up and coming young artists.
The Scribes ave also provided original music for BBC and Channel 4 television, and are featured regularly on both national and local radio and media including BBC 1Xtra, BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 1 Introducing.
