Picnic in park to bring memory cafes together - and attract new volunteers

A special 'Picnic in the Park' is being held in Paignton

It was organised by volunteers who run Dementia Memory Cafes in Goodrington and Paignton.
Volunteer Bill Herlihy says: "Both of these community projects have been running now for the past two years and 18 months respectively. People in our community who use the cafes, be it sufferers and or their carers, enjoy two hours of needed respite on a Monday and Thursday."
The picnic was held for both cafes at Paignton Rugby Club.
Bill says: "The venue was facilitated through the generosity of the rugby club who see this as a community led event that reaches out to our neighbourhoods."
He added: "Whilst it was a closed gathering we hoped we might encourage volunteers from across the Bay to come forward. The event showcased what we do and the contribution all our current volunteers give to both cafes."
The memory cafes are always on the lookout for volunteers for this vital and much-appreciated community service.
