Torbay Amateur Athletics Club were racing far and wide
The Indian Summer was clearly over on Saturday as club members Rachel Collins and Glen Hawkins headed to Somerset to take part in the Cheddar Gorge Road Race organised by Relish Running Races.
With three options available a 5K, 10K and half marathon, they opted for the 10K. The first part of the route was undulating with a lot of surface water from overnight rain creating a bit of a challenge. A shallow downhill section preceded the final section which meandered down through the gorge itself to the finish. stunning scenery added to what was all in all a thoroughly enjoyable day. Rachel Collins 55:10; Glen Hawkins 59:37
Sara Crozier was in London for The Swim Serpentine in Hyde Park. The event offers a half mile, one mile, two mile and six mile option, with the two mile and Super Six counting towards The London Classics. The Classics are London Marathon, Ford Ride London and Swim Serpentine, on completion participants are able to claim a special medal. Sara is the first Torbay AAC club member to complete the Classics. During the week it had been touch and go whether the event would even go ahead due to the blue, green algae levels.
Swimmers were directed down the ramp and into the lake. Swimmers found their rhythm, making sure not to swallow the pond life tasting, duck poo water or swim into a swan. It was two laps for the Two mile event.. Sara finished in 01:34:39
