Torbay Athletic Club runner Iaen Sell travelled to the North East to take part in the Great North Run - a landmark event in its own right but a bit special as it was Sir Mo Farah’s last race.
The day started hot and humid which didn’t present as good distance running conditions. Iaen finished in 1:56:30 a personal; best at this event.
Anthony Raine ran the Michelmores 5k Race on Saturday night at Powderham Castle with 511 other participants. It was a warm sunny evening in a stunning setting. The route took them off road through the castle grounds with over 600 resident fallow deer watching on, down the Exe Estuary towards Starcross before returning via a private track through the estate. Anthony crossed the line in 21st place with a chip time of 20.21.

Heather Eve and Hayley Ratcliff headed to the moors for the beautiful Dartmoor Volcano. After 10.5 miles of tough hills, water crossings and lots of bogs Heather was 4th lady and first v40 and an impressive 16th overall. Hayley was second V50 and 14th lady to cross the finish line. Thank you to the organisers and marshals but this fabulous event .

Mike Davies ran the Jungfrau half marathon in 4:17 a beautiful race. Starting in Lauterbrunnen, the course runs along the original Jungfrau-Marathon route to the finish at Eigergletscher. The Jungfrau Marathon is one of the best known and beautiful mountain marathons in the world, in full view of the famous Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains in the Bernese Oberland area of the Swiss Alps. Mike ran this spectacular course thinking of fellow club members Rob, Dave and Eric.
