Are you passionate about young people and education?

Do you live in or around Torbay, and would be able to commit a minimum of two hours per week to support young people? Torbay United is looking for volunteers for their Schools Support Network.

The vision for Torbay schools is to provide pastoral care, increase safety and nurture wellbeing. The Schools Support Network is committed to breaking down cultural, generational, racial and socioeconomic barriers to help create spaces of safety and belonging for young people.

The network is looking for volunteers who can provide mentoring and support to pupils and the community, help with school gate drop off and/or pick up, break and lunchtime support, remote prayer support and more. If you are a church leader, youth worker, parent/carer, retired, or just happen to have time, then we would love to hear from you!

On average, a parent, carer, or grandparent will spend approximately 30 minutes outside a school gate on a given day during drop off and pick up time. This may amount to over 2.5 hours a week. We want to resource you to be a safe person during your usual routine within the school day and to get involved with helping Torbay Schools. You would undergo a DBS check, full training and ongoing support from the Schools Support Network and the school setting you would be a part of.

There are currently great organisations doing vital work with young people in Torbay. We are partnering with some of them; LiNX, ICE Torbay, Nova Street, Open the Book, Exeter Diocese, Torbay Council and the local Police. If you are interested in joining our network and you are a local organisation then we’d love to hear from you. Working together we can combine resources, wisdom and knowledge for positive outcomes for the young people in Torbay.

If you are interested in getting involved, please email us at sst@torbayunited.org.uk. Or call us on 07840 754 922 we are happy to meet up and give you more information.
