Dame Agatha's back at the Lyceum!

Musical review to celebrate Christie Festival Week

Flashback to the Royal Theatre and Opera House

Flashback to the days of Dame Agatha and the Lyceum

Unleashed Theatre Company based in Torquay is probably one of the most unique theatre companies in the country.

They have now launched their new original production ‘Agatha Christie: Her Life in Words and Music' as part of the Agatha Christie Festival 2023.

This brand newand hilarious musical review will have songs from the era including Cole Porter and George Gershwin as we journey through the life of the world’s most successful ‘Queen of Crime’ - all taking place within the very theatre Dame Agatha herself visited many times.
The Company are very excited to stage a production about Agatha’s life in their new theatre the Royal Lyceum on Abbey Road (previously the Central Cinema).

Agatha visited the Royal Lyceum frequently prior to becoming a hugely successful playwright. In her autobiography Agatha wrote: "One of the great joys in life was the local theatre. We were all lovers of the theatre in my family.”
Unleashed Creative Director Martin Harris has said: "It is a huge honour to present a play about the life of Agatha Christie in the theatre that inspired her. The theatre was also visited by Oscar Wilde and Charles Dickens and has a huge history in the life of Torbay."

The story of Agatha’s life will be interspersed with classic songs but the drama itself has been written by Creative Director Martin. Unleashed are passionate about original writing and have a reputation for producing quality original drama. Unleashed Community Drama wrote and devised a feature length film called ‘The Rich and the Pure’ which went on to win Best Screen Play at the Cannes Short Film Festival 2022.
The theatre will be transformed for the Festival with mocktails being served and a live band creating the atmosphere of the 1920s theatre.
