Torbay Pride will be back next year even bigger and better
Torbay Pride will be back next year even bigger and better - with a possible Proms thrown in for good measure .
The first Pride event in a decade was hailed a huge success on Saturday. Thousands paraded along Torquay seafront before heading to Torre Abbey Meadows for music, fun and refreshments.
Torbay Pride chairman Chris Smith said: "We would sincerely like to thank absolutely everyone who helped with Torbay Pride. We are honestly overwhelmed by the turn out and support. Our volunteers from all walks of life put in hours to help and really made the event safe and successful.
"This is the first one of what is planned to be an annual event. The application for next year's date has already gone in as Saturday September 7 to Torbay Council. We suggest you keep the evening of Friday the 6th free as well - we plan to try and bring Proms on the Meadow in on the Friday evening as part of the Torbay Pride celebrations. We are about diversity, inclusion and community all the way.
"Also, a big shout out please to all the sponsors and the guys at Children's week and Paignton Festival who also gave their time and advice on the day to run the event."
