Former Torquay United centre-forward Tim Sills, the scorer of 'that' promotion-winning goal at Wembley, can't wait for the FA Cup-tie that will pit his Wimborne Town team against the Gulls in Dorset later this month.

The Second Qualifying Round draw will send United to Southern League Wimborne's New Cuthbury ground on September 16, and Magpies manager Sills says: "It's the one draw you hope to get but never seems to come around - I'm absolutely delighted."

It was in May 2009 that Sills scored one of the most fondly remembered goals in Torquay's history, heading the clincher from Wayne Carlisle's cross to beat Cambridge United 2-0 in the Conference Play-Off Final at Wembley.

His popular two-and-a-half years at Plainmoor produced 47 goals in all competitions, but none as important as the one which ensured United's promotion back to the Football League just over 14 years ago.

Since retiring as a player, Poole-based Sills, 43, has worked as a PE teacher and now as a corporate fund-raising executive for a charity supporting young carers.

After a successful spell at Hamworthy United, whom he coached to the Wessex League Premier title and the FA Vase semi-finals, Sills became boss of Wimborne last October.

The Magpies are unbeaten in the SL Division One South and knocked Tiverton Town out of the Cup (1-0) at the weekend.

"I have very fond memories of my time at Plainmoor, and I still follow the Gulls, so this is the one draw that I'd hoped to get," he said.

"I've been in some good situations in the Cup over the years, but never quite got the draw I've wanted. But here we are - it's come now!

"It's been a really good start to the season for us, a lot of great work is going on here and I think we deserve that little bit of luck."

Gulls manager Gary Johnson commented: "Wimborne are doing very well in their league, and when we've got through the next couple of league matches, we'll look forward to Wimborne."

There will be a chance for Torquay to 'scout' the Magpies - they are away to Exmouth Town, managed by another ex-Torquay favourite in Kevin Hill, in the FA Trophy this Saturday.

United, who came in for widespread criticism after their tame 2-1 defeat at Aveley last weekend, met Farnborough in the National League South at Plainmoor last night and will take on Chelmsford City at home on Saturday.
