Hi my name is Mike Shaw and I have worked for Devon and Cornwall Police for almost 26 years and have been a PCSO for 17 years having also previously been a Police Traffic Warden for eight-and-a-half years.
I currently look after Preston Ward alongside PC Ant Murray.
My role is to provide public reassurance through hi-visibility patrols and visits to victims of crime and engagement with the community, prevent crime and deal with low level crime. I respond to any neighbourly problems or anti-social issues and involve partner agencies where appropriate. Any problems that are highlighted I will deal with proactively and try to resolve as quickly and efficiently as possible.
I look forward to the ongoing challenge and hope that by working within the community and forging links with the various agencies we can make a difference to people’s lives.
Areas of concern this summer season are Oldway Mansion and grounds, we have seen an increase in drug-related activity and young people entering the derelict Rotunda building, which is very dangerous to enter due to the serious dangers it has been extensively boarded up and secured, Patrols have increased to hopefully prevent any issues in this area.
Preston sea front where we have historically had issues around the beach huts damage break-ins etc and low level anti-social behaviour, please can I ask that hut owners have sufficient security and leave nothing of value in the huts overnight and report any issues to us.
Also, Parkfield may present some youth related ASB as the weather becomes better and all areas will see increased patrols when able over the summer months.
Please feel free to stop me in the street to say hello and contact Police if you have any issues or see something that you feel we should know about.
You can visit the Devon and Cornwall Website to report crimes or anti-social behaviour or contact your local Neighbourhood Team.
