Summer is here. The Circus and Fun Fairs are in town and there are lots of activities in Torbay to make you smile. From vibrant community fayres to leisurely coastal walks, now is the time to join your neighbours and friends and make fabulous memories that will keep you warm in the cold winter nights.

This Saturday (August 19), Melville residents are celebrating their Magnificent Mural's one-year anniversary with a community BBQ. They have also produced a short video showcasing the positive changes they have made over the past year, working collaboratively with Torbay Council, their councillors and local charities. To find out more, please see the 'Making Melville Marvellous Again' video featured on the homepage of their community website; www.thepointtorquay.co.uk

On Tuesday, August 22, the Willows Community are celebrating with a family fun event at Willow Tree Pub, TQ2 7TG. - 11am to 2pm running in conjunction with the BIG EXCHANGE. Bring and buy without money. Bring along things you no longer need and take away what you fancy. “We have what we need when we share what we have."
Also, save the date for 'Beacon in Bloom' on Thursday September 28 from 10am. Join the Torquay Coastal Volunteers in clearing and planting the green spaces at Beacon Cove TQ1 2EP. We are celebrating Torquay’s beautiful coastal path and Agatha Christie’s famous bathing beach, by bringing it back to its forma glory, for all to enjoy.

Working with the council, SWISSCo, and the Coast and Countryside Trust, local residents come together to litter pick, sweep, paint, dig, plant and socialise. They meet the first Thursday of every month (next date: September 7) at Peaked Tor Cove on Torwood Costal path, just along from the Imperial Hotel. Why not join them, having fun and making Torquay a place we can all be proud of.

To find out more about these and other activities in Torquay, please call me on 07931 567885 or email cerisilk@torbaycommunities.org.uk. I’d love to hear about what makes you smile and help you share and celebrate your passions with others.
