Family fun
A two-day spectacular of fun, free and low-cost events for families is being staged at Paignton Library
The Fun Family Festival on Friday August 11 and Saturday 12 promises to be the perfect solution for anyone trying to entertain children during the summer holidays on a tight budget.
Paignton Library Supervisor Charlotte Harris-Sumner said: “We know the cost of living crisis is presenting a real problem for so many parents and carers of children during the summer. Keeping the youngsters entertained at home throughout the holidays can be extremely expensive. We hope our eclectic range of events are the answer to their prayers. Most are free or bookable with just a small donation (£1 - £3). And of course while the youngsters are in the library they can also borrow books to take home, join other groups, and sign up for our Summer Reading Challenge to keep up their reading skills.”
Both days run between 10am and 3pm, and include a wide range of free, bookable workshops and activities. Space on many of the workshops is limited, so booking via Eventbrite, by telephone on 01803 714460 or in the library is advised.
Friday's activities include a crystal workshop, Star Wars, screen printing sessions, music, a beads workshop, sea songs and shanties and stones painting.
Saturday sees Torbay Folk Choir Folk songs. dance workshop, a street dance class, Bollywood dancing, Comedy juggling, STEM science experiments, balloon modelling and magic with Cosmo the magician.
Faces Glitz and Glam will be at the library on Saturday morning with face painting, festival glitter and glitter tattoos. There will also be stall holders and information stands on both days selling beautiful gifts and crafts, toys and games, plus a half price book sale and games to win great prizes.
