Thrive Project benefits from Morrisons Foundation

The Thrive Project, a local charity that provides vital support to people in need across Torbay, were delighted to receive a donation of £5,000 from the Morrisons Foundation.
Thanks to the support from the charitable arm of the supermarket, the Thrive Project has been able to provide kitchen appliances to people in need who would otherwise not be able to afford these essential items.
Rachel Shephard, The Thrive Project Founder, said: "Having access to things such as microwaves, kettles etc can improve the quality of life for people struggling to feed themselves, as well as providing a sense of dignity to those making the journey to get back on their feet.
“The Thrive Project will now be able to provide a store of small appliances thanks to the generous donation made by the Morrisons Foundation. This will provide access to appliances to those who need them and help us in our endeavour to support our local community."
The Thrive Project operates a community hub in the heart of Paignton, offering critical support to those in need. The charity’s aims to help anyone who is in need, offering support to homeless people to find stable accommodation and employment, as well as relieving poverty, and reducing loneliness for those who are socially isolated. Families who are facing the cost-of-living crisis are also welcomed by the charity, who offer meals and support groups.
David Scott, Morrisons Foundation Trustee, said: “I’m very proud that the Foundation has been able to support such a worthy cause to help people most in need in our community. Supporting, small, local charities like this is at the heart of what the Foundation is all about.”
The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives. Since launching, over £39 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
Since launch, the Morrisons Foundation has donated more than £39 million to registered charities across England, Scotland and Wales. The Morrisons Foundation receives all of its income from Morrisons.
