Round-up from Torbay Rotary Clubs

It’s all systems go for Saturday’s Moove ‘n’ Groove Music Festiv-ALL, and festival-goers will have a special treat, as therapy pony Patrick will be making a special visit on the day.
Organiser and president of Sunrise Rotary Club, Andy Uglow, said: “We are over the moon that Patrick will be coming along to the festival down on the farm. The day-long event is in support of people who have learning disabilities and autism, and everyone is welcome to attend and support our very first all-inclusive music festival in the Bay.”
The festival, at Culvertor Farm in Marldon, runs from 10am to 9pm with live music all day, activities and stalls for the whole family. There will be free parking on site and a mini-bus collection service from designated locations. Tickets are available through Eventbrite with carers’ tickets free. For more information, contact Andy on 07909 640416 or visit the Moove & Groove Music Festival Facebook page.
Rotary clubs throughout the Bay started their new year this month with handovers to new club presidents. Each president designates their club officers for the year and declares their chosen charity.
At Preston Rotary Club, Jim Palmer handed over the reins to incoming president David Jamieson. Jim said: “We are now settled into our new meeting place at the Paignton Club. We have had a successful year, recruiting three new members. My main charity has been Parkinsons UK and we have also supported over 20 local and international charities.”
David said: “I am looking forward to being president for the second time. We have another member joining shortly who can help us with our main fundraising events - our Sportsman's Dinner and two charity golf days. My main charity will be DEBRA and we will continue with our hands-on activities in the local community.”
At Torbay Sunrise, Steve Holdup handed over the president’s chain to Andy Uglow, whose main charity will be the Purple Angel Dementia Campaign. He said: “I must say how proud I am to lead the club forward with an exciting programme of events already in the pipeline including the Moove & Groove Festival, Babbacombe Fayre and the hugely popular Santa’s Grotto.”
Members of Brixham Rotary Club bid farewell to Chris Bryson for all his hard work during the year and welcomed back Adrian Laurie into the role of president for 2023/24. Chris said: “I know Adrian, having been a previous President, will continue with our Rotary aims of ‘service before self’ and he will continue to ensure the club gives its support to the many Brixham organisations we help.”
