Superb summer on the menu at Torquay Museum

Pop in, spend an hour, or spend more, stay for lunch, or spend the night!
1. The annual ‘pay once, get in free for a year’ ticket is great value – discounted by 20% if you live within a TQ postcode – and means you can visit as many times as you like for a whole year.
2. Wednesday, August 2 sees CHaOS at Torquay Museum! Have you ever wondered what sound looks like, how a rocket works, or what's inside your body? Cambridge Hands-On Science (CHaOS) will be at Torquay Museum with a team of friendly Cambridge students to answer these questions and more with fun, hands-on science experiments! Running throughout the day, the experiments are aimed at ages 8-14 years-old, but children and grown-ups of all ages are welcome too!
3. Join Kooky and Kitsch for ‘kracking’ Kartoon Klassroom; workshops for all budding illustrators and cartoonists, aged between 7-11 years-old, running Saturday, August 3, 10, and 17. Parents and carers are welcome to stay, grab a coffee and cake in the Museum café, or take a wander around the museum, while the youngsters learn how to draw characters and even make simple animation. All equipment is provided by Kooky and Kitsch's very talented illustrator and tutor, Rob.
4. Whole family fun and a night of adventure with ‘Sleepwalk Like An Egyptian’ on Friday, August 18 – after the doors have closed and everyone has gone home – grab your torch and roam the galleries! This unique sleepover offers children, aged 7 to 15, the chance to explore and discover the Museum after dark while taking part in some fun activities. After setting up camp in one of our amazing galleries, you'll be treated to an evening of awesome activities with plenty to learn and discover along the way. Come midnight, bunk down for a night among intrepid explorers and dream of faraway lands.
5. The very popular Friendly Faces for Year 7 events return in the last week of the school holiday. These two-hour sessions will allow children moving from Year 6, into secondary Year 7, the opportunity to come along to the museum for some fun, games, and the chance to meet up with some friendly faces, before starting at their new schools the following week. (And give grown-ups the chance to chat in the café!)
Torquay Girls' Grammar School, Torquay Boys' Grammar School, and Churston Ferrers Grammar School on Friday, September 1. The Spires College, Torquay Academy, and St Cuthbert Mayne School on Saturday, September 2.
6. TWO fabulous new exhibitions to explore; ‘Hollywood Rome: Reel Life in the Ancient World’ and ‘Six-Legged Superheroes: Insects Saving the Planet Exhibition’.
The Museum is open every day during the summer holidays, apart from Sunday, from 10am – 4.45pm, last admissions at 4.15pm.
Booking information and times for all events can be found on the Museum’s website.
