Middle distance triathlon racing took centre stage this weekend as Torbay Tri Club members travelled across the country to swim, bike and run.
Doubling up as the British Middle Distance Championships, the Outlaw Half in Holkham, Norfolk attracted a stella field of triathletes aiming to earn a title.
Fresh from his Long Course Weekend success in Wales last weekend, Donald Brooks once again proved his dominance in age group racing with a superb category win in 4.11.35. Joining him on the orange finishers carpet was Chris Martin, who continued his packed event calendar with a 5.45.50 finish and Peter Shorland in 8.14.03
Slightly closer to home and the Cotswold Classic attracted a group of club members at the popular event. Holly-Mei Jones stepped on to the podium with a great third place female in 4.52.29, closely followed by Mark Colombini, who also went sub five in 4.57.19 and were followed home by Peter Hayward 5.21.11, Helen Chapell 5.53.57, Laraine Gibbins 6.42.05, Mark Tidball 6.43.11 and Paul Chamings 7.24.44
A new home for Plymouth Triathlon saw racers setting foot in Cornish soil and welcomed to Mount Edgecombe. Taking part in the Sprint distance race, Laura Wilby returned to Devon having claimed first lady in 1.30.33 and was joined by Bradley 'lizardman' Price just behind in 1.34.54
Dave Brown went full gas around the race circuit in the latest round of the Castle Coombe Duathlon series, taking fourth place overall and an age group victory in 49.16
There were PB's for both Naomi Flanagan and Emma Jefferys at the midweek Exeter 5k. Both hit top speed around the riverside course and were separated by just one second, as Naomi crossed the line in 18.21 (1st AG) and Emma hot on her heels in 18.22 (3rd AG).
Gary Brenton spent several days in the saddle and all in the name of charity. Raising money for "Ride for Precious Lives" Gary successfully completed the 225-mile, three-day cycle challenge, which began in St Austell and finished in Bristol. Riding through challenging, but breathtaking, scenery, the route visited three very special children's hospices along the way.
