Paignton spirit shines through in Exeter Regatta triumphs

The City of Exeter Regatta, the fourth regatta in the West of England ARA 10 regatta championship series, attracted 242 entries, with 145 races over the three lane 450 metre course on the river Exe.
Paignton club captain Rob Harris said: “Paignton had one of their most successful days at Exeter Regatta with four wins and a host of 2nd and 3rd place finishes. The club spirit is really great at the moment with everyone supporting each other and willing each other to do well.
“We are by far the loudest club in the South-West and the brightest on the water with our old gold and blue club colours! Winning a race with a Torquay and Paignton composite crew was the icing on the cake!”
Those four wins came in the Ladies Novice single sculls with Keira Brueton; Open Under 18 double sculls with Yuri Allasia and Ethan Frost; Open Under 16 double sculls with Oliver Chalk and Hugo Dossett; and the Ladies Under 15 double sculls with Paignton’s Eva Birchell and Torquay’s Sophie Evans.
The next Championship Regatta is at Paignton on Saturday, July 15.
