Plymouth Argyle continued their strong run of form under Tom Cleverley as they came from behind to secure an impressive 3-1 victory over fellow League One play-off hopefuls Huddersfield Town and move up to seventh in the table.

The visitors made the brighter start and took the lead after 26 minutes through Cameron Humphreys. Set up by recalled striker Alfie May, the midfielder drove into the box before firing a low shot past Conor Hazard to put Huddersfield in control.

Argyle felt aggrieved just before the break when a penalty appeal was waved away after Lee Nicholls brought down Owen Dale. The Plymouth forward was instead shown a yellow card for his protests, summing up a frustrating first half for the hosts. Moments later, Nicholls was called into action again, punching clear a dangerous Ronan Curtis corner before being forced off and replaced by Jak Alnwick.

The game turned dramatically in Plymouth’s favour immediately after the restart. Alnwick made two quick saves on his line, but the pressure told as Dale reacted fastest to a loose ball, smashing home from close range to level the scores just two minutes into the second half.

Argyle seized the momentum and took the lead on 59 minutes. Substitute Cameron Ashia conceded a penalty after fouling Owen Oseni in the box, and Bim Pepple stepped up to emphatically convert from the spot.

The hosts wrapped up the victory in the 73rd minute when Oseni capitalised on a goalkeeping error, pouncing after Alnwick failed to hold Pepple’s powerful strike to slot home a third.

Oseni nearly added further gloss late on but fired narrowly wide when through one-on-one, as Plymouth settled for a deserved win that strengthens their push for a play-off place.
