Top spots for Torbay AAC juniors

Torbay athletes in Devon County Championships

Torbay AAC juniors mastered the mud at the Devon County Championships in Exeter.

Annalise Little ruled the race, taking the U13 girls county championship title with ease, which further secured her 1st place in the league so far with three out of six races now complete.

Torbay’s U15 girls were placed third team for Devon with amazing runs from Ella Richards 6th (now 1st in the league), Scarlett Muscott 7th (now 3rd in the league), Hope Forrester 32nd, Sophia Impey 33rd and Bea Bateman 35th.

Torbay’s U15 boys also claimed 3rd Devon team with Leon Snell holding on to 6th pace in a brutally fast race. Marlow Kirby finished strong to take 10th place and Sam Freestone was 13th in the Devon championships.

Over 6k, the U17 boys team secured 2nd Devon team place and also second team so far in the Westward League. In the Devon championships, Theo Glew was 7th, Harry Kendall 8th, Joshua Bradley-Reece 11th and Gwilym Lewis 16th. After the 3rd league of the series, Theo Glew is now 3rd overall.

In the Westward League U11s, Roux Tucker was 19th, making him 13th in the league so far and Henry Foulds was 23rd. Great running from the younger juniors.

Torbay AAC coaches were delighted with the performances of the juniors, who showed great strength and determination over a tough course in very tricky conditions.

While Storm Darragh battered the UK, four Torbay AAC athletes lined up in Lanzarote for the start of the Font Vella races. The routes follow the coastline from Puerto del Carmen to Costa Teguise. The day was hot and sunny with a strong head wind, laced with the dust from the Sahara Desert and the looming volcanoes adding to the challenge of the run.

Half marathon results: Mark Atkinson 1:42:30, Cassandra Pressling 2:2:47. 10k results: Anita Merritt 58:46, Tessa Hearfield 59:18.
