Brixham say a fond farewell to Snakey with outstanding victory

Big wins for the rugby teams of Brixham, Paignton and Torquay
It was a weekend for the calculators in the Torbay rugby scene, as our trio of leading clubs amassed an incredible 173 points from their respective fixtures, averaging at almost 58 points per team.
Brixham and Paignton led the way with high-scoring victories, while Torquay Athletic just fell short in an entertaining fixture with Saltash.
Starting with the Tics, Harvey Dent, Craig Withers, Ben Sharples and Lewis Crocker all crossed the whitewash but it ultimately proved not quite enough, as Saltash emerged 31-28 victors in a cracking game of rugby under the autumn sun.
Paignton travelled to Truro and produced some ruthless rugby to destroy their Cornish hosts 74-19 in a stunning display matched by neighbours Brixham, who said farewell to a club legend with a superb 71-10 destruction of Lydney.
On a special day at Astley Park, Scott Puleston ‘Snakey’ donned the famous Fishermen shirt for the final time, and he was enjoying the start like everyone else, as Kai Kidd and Joel Ashworth scored early tries to set the tone for the day.
Andre Simonetti finished off a fabulous team move for try number four and Mat Crosscombe wrapped up the bonus point after just 20 minutes. Lydney did get one the scoreboard before half-time but Jason Capaldi swiftly replied to make the scores 33-5.
The second period was a demonstration from the Fishermen, Kidd and Ashworth dotted down again, Mitch Pinkus joined the fun, and Capaldi went on to score a total of four tries, the last of which converted by Snakey in the perfect finale.
