The ongoing injury crisis at Torquay United does have a silver lining for the young players on the South Devon College football programme in partnership with the Gulls.
On Saturday, United lined up with four U18 players on the bench, which was obviously a fantastic experience for those youngsters, but also showcases the pathway from the SDC programme to opportunities with the first-team at Plainmoor.
Aidan Edwards, recalled from Brixham AFC, was among the replacements, along with Fin Herbert, who also plays for Brixham at Step 4. Coby White (Buckland Athletic) and Jonah Shaw (Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police) completed the quartet.
