Sharks chase the Buzzards as Ravens are humbled with a whitewash

Playing for positions in the South Devon and Torbay Table Tennis League

A comprehensive 10-0 victory for the Brixham Sharks’ team of Aarish Maharjan, Clive Banham and Chris Harper against NA Ravens closes the gap at the top of the Torbay Table Tennis League first division to just six points as they chase the leaders NA Buzzards.

Another Alex Fialho maximum led his Torbay Academy 3 team to a 7-3 victory over NA Falcons to lift them off the foot of the second division table.

Torre Vikings, with an 8-2 victory over Torbay Academy 2, move up level on points with Teignmouth Aces in the runners-up spot, and trailing the leaders Brixham Trawlers by seven points. Bill Keywood and Ed Crawford with maximums for the Vikings.

NA Harriers increased their lead at the top of the third division to ten points as they defeated Torbay Academy 4, 8-2, Albie Andrews with another fine maximum for the Harriers.

Rob Austin and Lewis Lavery were undefeated as Torre Spartans beat Brixham Gulls 7-3. Torbay Academy 5, with games in hand, are climbing the table, Jamie McGuire and Gustaw Adamczak to the fore with maximums as they defeated the Taverners 7-3 in their latest outing.

Clear leaders in the fourth division, Grove Tigers, with no match, saw NA Merlins close to within three points of the Tigers with a 6-4 victory over Brixham Seals, however the leaders have played two games fewer.

The youngsters from Torbay Academy 7 were in fine form as they were comfortable 10-0 victors over NA Vultures. Harrison Harkin, Noah Gage and Oliver Luscombe dropped just one game between them in the singles then had to recover from 0-2 down in the final doubles to secure the whitewash victory.

A couple of second round handicap singles cup matches took place which saw the holders NA Kites knocked out by Teignmouth Delinquents 16-20 and Torbay Academy 3 progressing to the quarter finals with a 23-9 victory over club colleagues Torbay Academy 2.
