You’re never too old to push a pedal – that could be the motto of the Torbay Velopark Veteran’s Group who celebrate their tenth anniversary this year.

There are no potholes, kerbs, road furniture or traffic to worry about when the Vets meet for a spin at the closed circuit at Paignton.

‘A bit of bike and banter’ was the aim of the late Ken Robertson when the former Mid-Devon CC stalwart started the Vets.

There are no rules and no fees when they get together on the first and third Wednesdays (2pm) of each month, and you don’t have to join the MDCC to take part.

The current ‘team’ includes two riders who recently celebrated their 90th birthdays, Bob Kelsall and Tony Butler, but anybody, male or female, over 40 years old is welcome to join.

An hour’s ride is often followed by a social session in the nearby Leisure Centre cafe.
