Back after the Christmas break and the NA Buzzards continued where they left off, winning well at the top of the first division in the Torbay and South Devon Table Tennis League.

Their latest victims were NA Ravens who didn’t win a set as the Buzzards’ Sonja Ryland, Kevin Nicholls and Herbie Sage strolled to a 10-0 win. Second placed Brixham Sharks, with another Aarish Maharjan maximum, were also winners as they defeated Grove Guerrillas 6-4.

Second division leaders Brixham Trawlers stretched their lead at the top to seven points with an 8-2 victory over Torbay Academy 3, Stuart Shipley was undefeated for the Trawlers.

Teignmouth Aces leapfrogged NA Raptors as they defeated the Newton Abbot side 7-3 with the help of an excellent maximum from Peter Chadwick. Mike Dummett was undefeated for his NA Falcons’ side as they shared the points with Torbay Academy 2.

A fine maximum from Torbay Academy 5’s Jamie McGuire helped the Academy to a share of the points against the third division leaders NA Harriers. Another Richard Hathaway maximum for NA Kestrels in their draw with Taverners leaves the Kestrels in the runners up spot.

Brixham Gulls are still very much in the mix for the title as they defeated Torbay Academy 4, 7-3, Kevin Ayling with a maximum for the Gulls.

Grove Tigers’ march to the fourth division title continued with a 7-3 victory over Torbay Academy 7, Jeff Cornish with a maximum for the Grove outfit. Andy Clitheroe was unbeaten for the Teignmouth Delinquents but they lost out 4-6 to NA Merlins.

Maximums from both Jean Neafcy and Marco Pilloni saw Torbay Academy 6 climb to second place in the table with an 8-2 victory over Brixham Seals.
