Torquay United has confirmed it is undergoing the biggest off-field transformation in more than 15 years, with a restructuring programme designed to create a “dynamic, customer-centric and commercially led operation” to support the club’s long-term future.

In a statement released by co-chairmen Michael Westcott and Mark Bowes-Cavanagh, the club said the revamp is part of a wider strategic plan aimed at strengthening revenue growth, boosting fan engagement and building stronger partnerships across the community.

As part of the shake-up, several new roles are being created across commercial operations, supporter services and youth development, with the club aiming to become “leaner, more agile” and better positioned to thrive both on and off the pitch.

However, the restructuring has resulted in a “small number of redundancies” in recent weeks. The club paid tribute to those leaving, describing them as “outstanding servants” who showed professionalism and dedication during some of Torquay’s most challenging periods, including Covid, administration and difficult seasons on the pitch.

In their joint statement, Westcott and Bowes-Cavanagh said: “The colleagues who are leaving us have been outstanding servants of Torquay United - always professional and dedicated. They will always be part of the Torquay United family, and we wish them every success for the future.”

The club emphasised that the restructure forms a key part of efforts to build long-term stability and renewed ambition at Plainmoor, with a focus on improving the experience for supporters, sponsors and the wider community.
