Zakk Turnstill has had a long wait for his second fight, but Saturday night the hard-working 20-year-old from Newton Abbot will get that chance at the Riviera International Centre in Torquay on BCB Promotions' 'Clash on the Coast 3'.

“It's been a long time since I last boxed," said Turnstill, "Sixteen months away. I had some personal issues that I had to sort, and for a time I was in and out of the gym. I made sure I stayed in shape doing my own thing, running and keeping ready for when I could box again.

“However, for the last twelve weeks, I have been in the gym getting fully prepared for Saturday night. I don't normally do a lot of sparring but have had some really good rounds with Joe Tarrant, who has signed for BCB, as well as working with my dad, who has been coaching me since I was a kid.”

The four-fight card features two of Turnstill's gym mates, Ben Andrews and Charlie Ryder, with all three preparing for the show at Seven Hills Boxing Club under coach Gareth Hogg.

“Me and Ben have boxed together for a long time, first as amateurs and now as pros. It's a good feeling to be back on the same show together along with Charlie, who I haven't been on with yet, but he is great; he helps keep me motivated, as training can be hard, and he's brilliant to be around in the gym.”

Turnstill's professional debut came at the same venue in May last year, where he was matched with one of the sport's toughest journeymen, MJ Hall. A veteran of over a hundred fights, Hall may not win many, but he always proves a stern test, as his far younger opponent found out.

"I loved every single second of it. I hadn't boxed in three years before that night, and it was a bit of a shock to the system, to be honest. MJ was awkward and a southpaw, and I wasn't expecting him to hit as hard as he did. It was a tough fight, but I felt I dominated every round.

“Selling tickets is never easy, but so many of my supporters who came the first time are coming back again, and I should have an even bigger crowd for this one. I wish I could box full time, of course, and my job as a window fitter does mean I have to work away a lot, but these are the sacrifices you have to make. To box as a professional has been all I have ever wanted to do; it was my dream, and now I can't wait to do it all again on Saturday.”

Final remaining tickets for Clash on the Coast 3 are available now, priced at £45 for general admission and £80 for VIP, from the boxers directly or by emailing info@bcb-promotions.com
