Dart Totnes Rowing Club staged the third regatta of the West of England Amateur Rowing Association’s 2025 nine regatta championship series on the river Dart at Totnes.

Totnes & Bridgetown Royal Regatta attracted 183 entries, necessitating 103 races at four minute intervals.

Needless to say, the river conditions were superb over the 1,000 metre course, producing some excellent racing.

Torbay clubs Paignton and Torquay produced some surprising results in both Championship and supporting events.

Paignton again won the Open under 14 double sculls with Oscar Chambers and Ollie Higgs following their win at Wimbleball the previous week. Oscar and Ollie were also second and third in the Championship Open under 14 single sculls.

The Championship Open Novice coxed four of Simon Baxter, Jason Higgins, Mark Ballard, Jeff Badman and cox, James Tookey, were second and the Championship Open Senior C coxed four of Simon Baxter, Jason Higgins, Ben Smith, Jeff Badman and cox, James Tookey, were placed third in their event. The club also took third place in the Mixed eights.

Torquay were winners of the Mixed eights and the club had two third places with William Jackson-Heritage at Championship Open under 16 single sculls and Sophie Evans at Championship Women’s Novice single sculls.

The next Championship Regatta is at Exeter on July 12.
