Torbay AAC travel to Bovey Tracey

The job of travelling ‘further afield’ went to five Torbay AAC athletes, who took part in the annual Wray Valley half marathon or 10K.

The morning was bright and sunny making for warm running conditions as the participants left Bovey Tracey park and headed out onto the Wray Valley Trail, which is an old railway route and now a walking and cycling trail.

Passing through the village of Lustleigh, the runners then headed on towards Mortenhampstead before turning at the designated halfway points and returning back down the trail to Bovey Tracey and the finish line.

Results: Half Marathon - 10 Mark Atkinson 01:44:22 (1st mv55), 15 Steve Cooney 01:48:40 (2nd mv50), 85 Linda Phillippou 03:11:27. 10K - 15 Debbie Webber 54:35 (1st fv55), 27 Ian Sharrock 01:01:41 (1st mv70), 79 Andrew Park 1:24:44.

Last weekend, Iaen Sell took his place in the Great West Run Half Marathon - the weather was perfect thankfully following a really warm spell. It was a very well organised race with an altered route in the city centre phase to improve crowd participation. Iaen finished in 1:53:15.
