Torquay United and Newton Races sponsoring new awards
The annual Torbay Business Awards, hosted by Torbay Weekly, is set to take on a fresh sporting dimension this year with new sponsorship from Torquay United and Newton Abbot Racecourse.
Joining an already stellar list of sponsors, the two sporting institutions will back new categories: Best Marketing Initiative and Sport and Health and Wellbeing Business of the Year.
Torquay United co-chairman Michael Westcott explained the club’s motivation for supporting the awards, highlighting its commitment to promoting sport, health, and well-being across South Devon.
He said: “We are very proud to help restore Torquay United’s place at the heart of our local community, both in a sporting and business sense. Sport is a powerful vector for physical and mental well-being, and as South Devon’s largest professional sports club, we believe we have a responsibility to promote health, activity, and inclusion across all cohorts of our community.”
Westcott also praised Torbay Weekly for its support of the club and its role in championing local businesses.
“The Torbay Weekly has been a fantastic supporter of the club since its inception, and I was personally delighted to join their team for the launch of the Torbay Tomorrow magazine. Their commitment to both local sport and business is something we are proud to align with.”
As sponsors of the Sport and Health and Wellbeing Business of the Year award, Torquay United is eager to celebrate businesses that are making a real impact on community health and well-being.
“We are confident there will be some outstanding nominations in this category,” added Westcott. “This is an exciting time for both the football club and the Torbay business community, and we are delighted to play our part in recognising the incredible contributions made by local organisations.”
Newton Abbot Racecourse proudly collaborates with a diverse range of businesses across the region, providing an excellent platform for them to host and entertain clients or hold conferences and meetings in a dynamic setting.
John Baker, CEO of Newton Abbot Racecourse, expressed his enthusiasm for supporting the local business community, stating: “We are thrilled to be sponsoring the Torbay Business Awards and recognize the vital role that both businesses and the wider community play in our region.
“We have chosen to sponsor the award for the ‘Best Marketing Initiative’, as effective and creative marketing is essential for success in every industry. As a leading local sports venue, we are committed to building strong relationships with businesses and offering our support wherever possible.”
