Young golfers at Torquay driving range
Torquay, Churston and Dainton ready for the golf season
Every winter drags on for the amateur golfer and, while we’ve had wetter in recent years, excitement levels are still rising with every passing day for those who love fairways and greens.
The next generation of golfing talent have been practising hard on the driving range at Torquay Golf Club with the Club Pro Andrew. Information on the TGC Juniors is available by calling 01803 314591.
One goal on the horizon for junior golfers is the superb Faldo Futures competition for players aged from 7 – 12 years, with the ultimate objective of playing in the final at The Belfry in August.
Torquay Golf Club is blessed with some wonderful views of the Bay and the stunning scenery is matched at Churston, looking back the other way across the Bay, with the sunshine of the past weekend bringing golfers out on to the course.
It is the same down the road at Dainton Park, where competitions will soon start ramping up for the new season. As every golfer knows, the Masters tournament in April is often the starting gun for a summer on the course and, more than ever, golf has become a sport accessible to all, so get down to your local club and give it a whirl.
