Penalty drama for U14 Girls
After a long journey through the soggy fields of Devon, Torquay United U14 Girls arrived in North Molton to take on some of the best local teams in North Devon.
Thankfully played indoors as a futsal tournament, TUFC were in Group 1 of the draw, defeating Bideford Blues in their opening fixture, and the girls in yellow and blue followed that with a superb 5-0 victory over Chumleigh.
Next up was a clash with the hosts and United were held to a 1-1, quickly followed by the same two teams competing in the final. Once again, North Molton and Torquay United were locked at 1-1, sending the showpiece match to the tension of a penalty shoot-out.
Originally scheduled for three spot-kicks each, the two teams could not be separated after six players from each side had stepped up. It came down to the most sudden of sudden deaths and Maisie Coysh held her nerve to secure marvellous victory.
Well done to Amy, Selina, Ellie, Isla, Maria, Mia and Maisie.
