Brixham RFC planning ahead with appointment of new Director of Rugby

A familiar face is returning to Brixham Rugby Club for the 2025/26 season, as the Fishermen look to build on the impressive momentum of the current campaign.

Former Brixham Head Coach Dan Parkes is taking up the role as Director of Rugby at Astley Park, working with senior coaches across the club to help with recruitment and strategy for the future.

Brixham enter this weekend’s visit from Royal Wootton Bassett just two points clear of Barnstaple at the top of the Regional 1 Tribute SW Division, with seven games left in a thrilling season.

Chris Forster, Brixham RFC Chairman, said: “Brixham RFC are pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Parkes as the new Director of Rugby for the 2025/26 season.

“As we are already planning for the next season, we are pleased to announce that we have appointed Dan Parkes as our new Director of Rugby from the end of this playing season in May.

“Dan is no stranger to Brixham Rugby Club. He spent a very successful period as Head Coach a number of years ago. During this period, as Head Coach, Brixham won the Devon Cup and achieved promotion into the league we now play. Dan then went on to be the head coach at Plymouth Albion.

“Dan brings a lot of local knowledge and experience to the role. He will work with Adam Thomas as our Head Coach, and all senior coaches from the Crusaders and Colts, and lead the development of rugby at Brixham RFC.

“Whilst he will not officially start until the end of the season, when he finishes coaching the Colts team at Plymstock Oaks, he will be supporting us with recruitment over the next few months as we look forward to the new season.

“As we look to the future, we are pleased to have someone of Dan’s quality, and I know that he is happy to return to the club that has a very special place in his heart. Dan will be supported by a newly formed Rugby Strategy Group formed in the club, made up of Directors of the club and former players.”
