Victory celebrations for Mid-Devon CC's Lauren Fox
Latest results from Mid-Devon Cycling Club
Lauren Fox struck an important blow for the Mid-Devon Cycling Club when she won her age-group at the first round of this year’s National Trophy Cyclo-Cross Series at Derby.
Lauren pulled clear of a strong Under-14 field with old rival Harriet Butcher and then beat the Lea Valley Youth CC rider in a sprint for the line to take her first NT victory in 32mins 7secs.
The MDCC has enjoyed plenty of Trophy and National Championship wins in older age-groups, but this is a significant result at the start of what promises to be an exciting competition for the club this winter.
The Third Round of the Trophy series will be held at Paignton’s Torbay Velopark over the weekend of November 16/17.
Also at Derby, Matt Holmes was 31st in the Under-16 race, Lauren’s sister Eva finished 12th in the Junior Women’s category and James Allen was 36th at Boys U14 level.
Twenty-four hours later, Allen and Holmes had made it down to Redruth for the South-West CX Series.
There were MDCC wins in Cornwall for Allen (U14), James Bovey (O50), Cathy Kilburn (O50) and Robin Delve (O60).
Other results included: U12 Freddy Simcock 3rd, Jacob Coles 8th; U16 Matt Holmes 2nd, Bayley Woodger 3rd, Ben Picton 4th; Vet40 Emily Simcock 3rd; Vet50 Jackie Shute 3rd, Nicky Quant 4th.
