Tim Lewry completed his first 50k ultra marathon over Dartmoor

Amazing 50k achievement for Torbay Tri Club member

If you're going to do an ultra-marathon, you might as well make it a memorable one and that's exactly what Tim Lewry did with the Dartmoor in a Day 50k Ultra.

Making his debut over the long distance, and partnered by his wife, Tim began the day in Okehampton before passing through Postbridge, the East Dart valley, Bellever Tor, West Dart stepping stones and the Dartmoor Volcano on his way to successfully crossing the finish line in Ivybridge after 7 hours 20 minutes on his rather tired feet.

Naomi Flanagan from Torbay Tri Club proudly flew the Devon flag in Chippenham at the South West Half Marathon Championships.

Lining up alongside the best county runners, Naomi formed part of a successful Devon team that finished as runners-up, with Naomi herself finishing as 2nd lady in the team and third overall with a speedy time of 1.22.21.

Also in half-marathon action, Jon Pressling headed to Truro for some hilly racing as part of his ongoing marathon training preparations. Attracting over 500 runners from across Cornwall and further afield, the race is one of the longest running half marathons in the country. Jon claimed 3rd place in his age group with a strong time of 1.29.23.

Nick Cull and Richard Humphreys joined forces as part of a swim relay effort to swim continuously for 24 hours in the Cotswolds. Taking to the water, day and night, the team worked together to swim six times in total with three-hour rests in between and covering around 40 miles in total.

The night swimming proved a particularly enjoyable experience with the moon and stars, along with the crayfish, making it a memorable time for all participants. The event was all for a good cause as the organisers, Level Water, are a charity helping with swimming lesson provisions for children with disabilities.
