Paignton Rowing Club's squad for their home regatta
Results from the water
The re-arranged Paignton Regatta attracted 70 entries from around the region for the seventh regatta in the West of England Amateur Rowing Association’s ten regatta Championship series.
Scheduled to be held over a 1000-metre course in Torbay finishing just short of Paignton Harbour, the entries necessitated 25 events.
On an overcast day, conditions on the Bay were good with just a light chop at the start of the programme but a rising wind increased the chop to the point where at the halfway stage of the programme, the course had to be shortened to 600 metres and for the final six races adjusted further. However, all racing was completed.
The two Bay clubs, Torquay and Paignton, had a successful day. Paignton won the Mixed Novice coxed fours; were second in the Women’s Novice coxed quadruple sculls; 3rd in the Women’s Senior B coxed fours; 3rd in the Open Senior B coxed fours; and Josh Bradley was second in the Open Under 16 single sculls.
Torquay won the Ladies Novice coxed quadruple sculls; were second in the Open Under 15 double sculls; Harrison Green won the Open Under 18 single sculls; William Jackson-Heritage was second in Open Under 14 single sculls; and Sophie Evans was second in Women’s Under 16 single sculls.
