Torbay Tri Club got off to a weekend of winning action by claiming first place in the Haldon Relays 3k, with the team of Tim Watson Gary Burman Jon Parkinson and Paul Whitehead taking top honours in the V40 team category and finishing 6th place overall from nearly 50 teams.

Staying in Haldon and the following night Jerry Hocking took on the five-mile Haldon Forest Flyer. Enjoying the evening sunshine, Jerry blasted his way around the trails to claim a well-earned top twenty finish in a time of 34.41.

Continuing her superb running season, Naomi Flanagan was not only first female at the Cornwood 10k but also broke her own course record in 39.16, knocking 30 seconds off her previous time from 2015. The 10km run is around Cornwood and Lutton, mostly on roads but with some tracks and fields, making for a tough but scenic race.

The last Saturday in July meant it was time for the latest round of Torbay Tri Club's Parkrun race series. Sunny conditions greeted over 30 club members who raced their way around the Torbay Velopark and Clennon fields. Dave Brown 17.47 and Debbie Burman 21.09 were first home for the club, while Paul Whitehead Jerry Butcher Nick Cull and Katie Giles all claimed impressive PB's.

Going long, a trio of Jason Hurford Mark Colombini and Nigel Fenn headed to Nottingham for the Outlaw triathlon but due to water quality issue were left racing a duathlon format race. The swim leg was replaced by a 5k run before heading out on a 112-mile bike and then just the small matter of a marathon run before crossing the iconic orange Outlaw carpet at the finish. Jason Hurford was first home in 9.33.38, followed by Mark in 10.10.39, who completed his first marathon in the process, and Nigel completed the team in 11.18.17.
