Anthony Raine climbing the Dales
Anthony Raine runs a brutal course on the Yorkshire Dales
Anthony Raine from Torbay AAC enjoyed a lovely Sunday afternoon trip out to Kettlewell in the Yorkshire Dales last weekend. Multi-tasking a visit to family, he thought he’d give the utterly bonkers BOFRA Kettlewell Fell Race a go!
It's straight up to a gully before reaching the first ridge, then another steep climb and a run along an amazing skyline to a cairn before a stupidly fast descent with dangerous sections of scree and crags.
He came 8th in MV50 age category and 66th overall out of a 100 incredibly fit and fearless fell runners in a time of 20 mins 15 secs. Objective one was not to die, objective two was to complete the course and objective three was not to come last. Job done!
Two Torbay AAC athletes took on The Burrator 10K, a fast, flat route that is almost all on tarmac. It’s also one of the most beautiful 10Ks in the country with lovely views of Dartmoor and the reservoir.
The course start is right on the Dam bridge and includes two laps around the majestic reservoir. Results for Torbay AAC were as follows: Cassandra Pressling 51.06, Ian Sharrock 58.49 and second VET70.
